Drawing is my way of seeing the beauty in the world...

Hello, thanks for visiting my website.

I am a children's book illustrator and visual artist based in Central Victoria, Australia.   I have also worked for many years in community arts, festivals and events, and more recently as Education Officer with La Trobe Art Institute in Bendigo.

In April 2021, I welcomed the publication of Wombat, written by Christopher Cheng, which I illustrated for Walker Books Australia's wonderful Nature Storybook Series.

I have developed a Wonderful Wombat Workshop suitable for schools, bookshops or libraries,  to help celebrate the book during which I talk to children about my illustration process, in particular, how I use research to inform my artwork.  Please email me if you would like to know more.

Then July 2021 saw the publication of The Cat Thief, a very fun picture book written by Pat Simmons, published by Little Pink Dog Books.

These two books demonstrate completely different styles; Wombat is quite painterly while I used pen and ink with watercolour in a more cartoony style for The Cat Thief  in response to the humour in the story.  Both books were enormously fun to illustrate, and I loved the challenge of creating an artistic response that I felt was appropriate to each beautiful text.

I also LOVE to work in black and white and am very keen to work on more middle grade and junior fiction.  Please find examples of this work under Black & White on the menu above.

My training to illustrate picture books has included a B.A. Fine Arts, Bendigo CAE, and a Grad. Dip. Special Education, from La Trobe University. I have also gained illustration skills and industry knowledge through SCWBI, CYA, KidLitVic  Lilla Rogers Make Art That Sells online courses, and many other conferences and workshops, dedicated practice and reading literally hundreds of picture books to my three sparky daughters.
