Liz Duthie is currently working on her first creative non-fiction picture book with Walker Books Australia, and a picture book with Little Pink Dog Books, both due out in 2021. She is also Art Educator at the La Trobe Art Institute, Bendigo.
Liz’s fine arts training has given her a flexible style that expresses humour, emotion and movement, and can respond to a variety of texts, including non-fiction. She specializes in illustration for picture books and middle grade chapter books using traditional mediums such as water colour, pen and ink, acrylic, pencil and mixed media.
Recent projects have included a picture book commissioned by the City of Greater Bendigo, which she wrote and illustrated; cover and internal B&W illustrations for a chapter book by Tony Hassall, called “The Chosen Children”, and a self-published picture book called “Rose Vickers and the Nose Pickers” by Jeffrey McCubbery.
Liz has a B.A. Fine Arts, Bendigo CAE, and a Grad. Dip. Special Education, from La Trobe University. She has honed her illustration skills and industry knowledge through SCWBI, Australian Society of Authors, Lilla Rogers Make Art That Sells online courses, and many other conferences and workshops, dedicated practice and reading literally hundreds of picture books to her children.
